Superior Source Vitamins Family Pack Review

I had the chance to try the Superior Source vitamins family pack this past month and loved how easy they were to use. Their vitamins instantly dissolve, with no pills to swallow. You simply place the vitamin on or under your tongue, and voila! The vitamin is absorbed right away.

Superior Source included the following in their family pack:
  • B12
  • Vitamin D
  • Biotin
  • Vitamin C sour cherry melts
  • Children’s Vitamin B complex
  • Iron
These are all important for our health. Whether it’s to maintain our immune system, energy levels, or overall health, these easy to use vitamins take just seconds to dissolve and helps us with a maintenance regime.

I've been very low on Vitamin D for the last few years, and I don't enjoy swallowing pills everyday. These vitamins have helped me increase my vitamin levels without having to drastically change my ways. This is quite simply the easiest way to get your daily dose of vitamins and supplements without the hassle.

I would highly recommend Superior Source, especially if you or a loved one isn’t fond of traditional vitamins in pill form. The sour cherry melts are a delicious way to get your daily dose of Vitamin C! Check them out and see the other products they have available for you and the family.

Cassani Fogless Shower Mirror Review

I’m one of those people who has to have a fogless mirror in my shower. It’s partly due to the fact that when I jump in the shower, I’m either half awake in the morning, or half dead after a long day of work. I like being able to see myself wash my face so I don’t miss out on a good, clean scrub. You would think it was easy to find a fogless shower mirror that could last for at least a few years, right? Wrong! It has taken me what feels like forever to find a high quality shower mirror that has effective fogless abilities!

How to Control Acne and Rosacea

I write about skin concerns because so many of us are afflicted with various issues. Yet when we bring them to our dermatologists' attention, they are often viewed as aesthetic concerns. What many don't realize is how these skin conditions affect our confidence, mental and physical well-being, and feelings of inadequacy or embarrassment. How did you feel when you had a a major event and your rosacea decided to flare up, or you had an important interview and your skin wasn't in the best shape?

Superior Source Vitamins are unique in that there are no pills to swallow, and they dissolve under your tongue for fast absorption into the body. How to Reduce Stress and Anger

Hi all! Sorry for the radio silence - it has been a challenging few weeks. I am working on upcoming projects that will be of interest to you, so keep your eye out for future posts!

Managing stress is an ongoing process for me. A long time ago, I chose to manage my stress through natural means in order to avoid heavy medications. Do what is right for your body, whether it is through natural remedies or Western/Eastern medicine.

Here are several ways I manage my stress:

1. Count backwards from 10 to 0, while imagining each number in your head.
This sounds simple enough, but when you are upset, the last thing you want to do is count. Be persistent and do this every time you are angry or stressed. Do it enough so that it becomes a habit.

2. Emotional Freedom Technique, aka "tapping"
However you feel about this tapping method to reduce stress, this has worked well for me. The idea is to tap certain areas of the body, for example, the side of the hand or under the nose, when you feel stressed. This helps your body re-program its response to stress.

3. Meditation
When I reach a point where my stress feels out of control, I close my eyes, inhale deep breaths via diaphragmatic breathing (inhale through the nose, exhale through the mouth), and let my wind wander. I've fallen asleep on many occasions and wake up feeling refreshed.

Remember that it takes at least 19 days to break a habit. If you react to stress by overeating, that can be overcome if you are willing to spend at least three weeks to change that habit.

I hope these tips will help you in your journey towards reducing anger and stress!

Tonsil and Sore Throat Health Problems

Ever since I was a teenager, I have had problems with my sinuses, sore throats, and acid reflux. Thanks to the power of the internet, I searched for every possible cure and home remedy to ease my symptoms. Doctors never took me seriously and always sent me away with advice to buy OTC products. I was fed up with wasting my time and energy to figure out my health problems, so I targeted them one by one on my own.

Tonsil Problems: Every month for 13 years, I had moderate to severe sore throats. I would get the sudden urge to choke or cough intensely, and out popped tonsil stones (also known as tonsilloliths). It was disgusting, and I tried every trick in the book. Do these sound familiar?
     - Gargle with warm salt water
     - Stop eating dairy products
     - Squeeze out the stones from your tonsils with an object; I would use a tongue cleaner

My solution? After all else failed, I elected to have my tonsils removed. It took me at least one year to get my doctor to agree for me to see an ENT doctor. The procedure itself was not time consuming, but the post-recovery was horrendous!

Would I do it again? Probably, and unwillingly so. I vomited continuously after waking up from anesthesia and had to take anti-nausea medication. I felt sick to my stomach everyday. The healing process in my mouth looked, tasted, and felt disgusting. When you look inside your mouth, you will see greenish yellow stuff everywhere. That is the magic of the healing process!

Days 1-7 are spent in recovery mode, with pain on a 1-10 scale (10 being most painful) as:

Day 1: 6, Day 2: 7, Day 3: 8, Day 4: 9
Day 5: 10, Day 6: 10, Day 7: 9

Week two is much better once the spots in your throat are better healed.

Everything I ate and drank hurt so much. On day 7, after having liquids and no solid foods, I was still a bit out of it due to all the medications. I decided to eat a fish taco. It was the most delicious food I had tasted! I also didn't know it was a SPICY fish taco. It burned all the way down, but after that, I started to feel better.

The recovery varies for everyone. Some people have no problems at all, while others are in miserable pain. Tonsillectomies are riskier for adults than kids, since our tonsils are already developed.

If you're tired of the constant sore throats, tonsil stones, and halitosis, then I'm sure you are already considering a tonsillectomy. Remember to weigh the risks and benefits, and how much your life will be impacted.

It has been nearly one year since my procedure, and I am thankful I no longer have to deal with tonsil stones. On the down side, my throat is often very dry. If I don't have water every 30 minutes to 1 hour, my throat is parched and feels like a desert. Again, I made that decision and the dry throat can never compare to the severe sore throats or inflamed tonsils I used to feel.

I hope this helps you in your decision to improve your sore throat issues. If you have any questions, leave them below and I will get back to you as soon as possible!

Tips for Dizziness, Low Energy, or Exhaustion

Do you often feel tired, low on energy, or dizzy? I recently found out that my iron levels were incredibly low. After bugging my doctors for an entire year, one of them finally had blood tests performed, which revealed low levels of iron and B12. One of my simple health issues was due to low iron and B12! The solution? I went to a drugstore, purchased iron, B12, and fish oil supplements, and have taken them everyday for one month.

The trick to taking iron supplements is to take the pill with vitamin C rich foods. The vitamin C will help your body absorb more of the iron. Orange juice will also work. Another trick I have read is to cook using iron skillets or pans. Women are more likely to have low iron because of that cycle each month.

These were just brief tips, but I hope they were helpful to you!

Companies Who Don't Test on Animals

Since I've been sharing my favorite companies that make natural beauty and health products, I also wanted to share with you a few that don't test on animals. When I think of animal testing, I think of lipstick and eyeshadows on pigs, perfume sprays on chickens, and lotions on cows.

I never understood why companies resort to animal testing when there are focus groups and people who are willing to sign up to test beauty products. It makes me wonder what exactly is in that product that can potentially be so harmful to us, that they would rather use animals?

Some of my favorite products come from these great companies who don't need to resort to animal testing.
  • Aveda
  • Beecology
  • Boscia
  • Burt's Bees
  • Carol's Daughter
  • Conair
  • E.L.F. Cosmetics
I have sensitive skin, and Aveda products have been effective for me. Their plant based shampoos, conditioners, and lotions are not irritating, especially the rosemary mint line.

I'm surprised to see ELF cosmetics as an animal-free testing company. Their products are incredibly affordable ($1 for eyeliners and lipsticks, yes please!), so the argument from companies testing on animals to keep costs down is not acceptable to me.

What are some of your favorite animal cruelty-free and test-free products or companies? Share them with me and I'll include your comments on my next blog post.

Breast Cancer Awareness Tip #1

We are surrounded by beauty and health products loaded with chemicals that are not good for our health. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I wanted to feature non-toxic and effective products for your well-being.

Phresh Deodrant comes in several fragrances without the harsh chemicals you see in typical deodorants.

The tip for the day is to use an effective deodorant that is natural, as those chemicals are being absorbed into your armpits, and its close proximity to your chest area makes it risky. This is also good to keep in mind if you breastfeed. Remember, everything we apply to the skin gets absorbed!

Check out Phresh Deodorant and Celebrate Woman Today to check out the product and to get their take on natural health.

Skincare for Acne or Sensitive Skin

After years of suffering from acne breakouts, uneven skin tone, discoloration, and acne scarring, I gave up on my face. I hated going anywhere without makeup, and my rosacea only made things worse. When I would have flare-ups, my face would be bright red. All the time and money consuming visits to dermatologists did absolutely nothing for my face. I told myself I would no longer subject my face to the creams that would cause flaking, itching, stinging, burning, and drying. This is when I decided I would just hide behind my foundation mask forever. I've suffered from skin problems for 10 years, and I finally gave up.

Health Tip of the Week

If you're constantly stressed and want to manage your stress level, try this method. It has helped me in the last 6 months and I've even seen a positive impact on other areas of my life.

Starting from the top of your head, tap or pat your head, neck, face, arms, back, and body down to the feet. I like to pat in a 1-2 motion (left tap, right tap in a rhythm).

Do this once a day and some of the tensing in your muscles and pressures can gradually ease over time. This method helps to alleviate pressure and is also a great method when you're upset or angry. My anger usually subsides after tapping/patting for just two minutes. Give it a try!
