Buying brand new textbooks is the first mistake college students can make when it comes to saving money. I know because I bought all new textbooks during my first year of college, only to sell them back at 1/4 of the price.
What's worse is when a new edition of that same book is released, your copy of the text is essentially worthless. This is why I have a shelf full of college textbooks collecting dust.
