Why rent textbooks? For starters, the majority of my books were only used for one semester (4 months). I would pay $300+ dollars for books that I knew I would not keep. This is when I found renting books online to be budget-friendly and good for the environment as a means of reusing and recycling!
Campus Book Rentals
I came across Campus Book Rentals several years ago and have recommended them to my students and family countless times. The reasons why I support Campus Book Rentals are that they offer free shipping, for both receiving and sending back the book. I can also highlight in the textbooks! I haven't done this, but it's a nice option for those who like to mark their books.
Here is a quick video on how Campus Book Rentals work:
Campus Book Rentals has flexible renting periods and the best part is definitely their prices, which are about 40-90% off college bookstore prices. The number one reason why I like supporting Campus Book Rentals is that they donate to Operation Smile with every rented textbook.
Operation Smile
If you don't know what Operation Smile is, it's a volunteer-based medical organization dedicated to providing free cleft surgeries worldwide. There are countless families who cannot afford reconstructive surgery for their child's facial deformity, whether it's a cleft lip or cleft palate. Without cleft surgery, these children suffer from health risks and can't speak, socialize, or even smile.
Campus Book Rentals donates to Operation Smile for every textbook that is rented. Not only are they helping college students save money, they are helping a worthy cause. It's a win-win situation for everyone!
Make Money with Rent Back
Speaking of saving money, Campus Book Rentals has a new program called Rent Back, where you rent the textbooks you own to other students. This is a great way to earn extra money since you get more from renting out the textbooks, rather than selling it to buyback programs for pennies on the dollar.
You can find out more about Rent Back here:
Rent the textbooks you own to other students, and earn 2-4 times more than when you sell them back to buyback programs at the end of the semester or quarter.
If Campus Book Rentals, Operation Smile, and Rent Back aren't convincing enough for you, then you are always welcome to buy your textbooks at top dollar prices, and sell them back for pennies. Those pennies add up!

This is such a great program. I wish I knew of this or it was available when I was in school!
ReplyDeleteI could have definitely used this back when I was in college.
