My Anatomy professor once taught me that everything applied to the skin is always absorbed into the body and bloodstream. Imagine how it must feel to be vegan or vegetarian and to discover that your beauty products contained animal by-products and harsh chemicals?
I don't know about you, but the last thing I want to apply to my face is crushed beetles, or whale excretions, vegan or not. Beauty products have become incredibly inundated with chemicals and ingredients that are not good for your skin or health.
My first rule of thumb is to never use beauty products with an ingredients list that you don't understand. The more natural a product is, the more likely it is that you will look and feel better from those products.
When I came across natural skincare from Ecco Bella, I was excited to try their makeup foundation and powder. Ever since I became a vegetarian last year, I have been searching for a foundation that was paraben-free and did not contain animal products.
This is not as easy as it seems, because at least 85% of the products I had been using and those on the market all contained parabens and sulfates.
I needed a foundation and powder that would be natural and would have good coverage for my rosacea.
Ecco Bella kindly sent me their Flowercolor natural liquid foundation and Flowercolor face powder to review.
I received the foundation in Ivory Porcelain, and the face powder in Fair.
The Flowercolor natural liquid foundation is a water-based, multi-tasking product that is a treatment, SPF, and foundation all in one bottle. Anyone with oily skin should use water-based foundations to prevent clogged pores and to prevent that dreaded "slick" look.
I always test new foundations on my hand to see the texture and blending capabilities of the formula.
Notice that the foundation is much lighter than my hand (my face is more fair-skinned). After I quickly blended it, I was surprised that there was no color left behind.

I expected the foundation to leave a patch of lighter color on my skin, but it didn't!
This foundation has excellent coverage without feeling heavy on your skin.
After I tested the foundation on my hand, I applied it to my face. Here is a before and after shot:

The foundation covered redness and scars without giving me that "cakey" makeup look.
Their foundation colors are neutral, so there are no pink or yellow undertones in the formula.

I've always struggled with undertones in foundations because I could never find a good color match.
This foundation left no color line at the jaw and it blended very well.
I set my foundation with Ecco Bella's Flowercolor face powder. The powder is talc-free and did not change the color of my foundation. My skin did not feel heavy, even after an application of foundation and powder. What's great is this product contains green tea extract, perfect for those with sensitive skin or redness!
Benefits of Ecco Bella's products:
